Job Description

E15 is seeking an experienced Design and Construction Project Manager to oversee multiple food service capital projects throughout the country.  The Design and Construction Project Manager will direct construction projects from inception to completion, working closely with key project stakeholders and cross-functional teams and managing all consultants, contractors, and vendors.  The Design and Construction Project Manager will be responsible for establishing and overseeing project plans, budgets, scopes of work, and timelines, identifying and mitigating risks, and proactively communicating regarding project details.  The ideal candidate will have comprehensive experience in the food service industry and excellent attention to detail.

Core Responsibilities

  • Define, manage, and own the project plan, budget, scope, and timeline 
  • Direct all phases of construction including discovery, planning, design, and execution
  • Anticipate potential technical challenges in project execution and successfully navigate those challenges to ensure minimum impact to the project and the client
  • Proactively communicate project details, including status reports and meeting minutes, in a clear and concise manner
  • Serve as contract agent with the general contractor, subcontractors, the design team (architects, engineers, consultants, etc.), and the client, performing financial/competitive analyses and assessing market pricing in order to inform contract negotiations
  • Analyze existing site conditions and all contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.) to determine any required scope that is not indicated
  • Produce detailed estimates for the scopes of assigned trades, building systems, and overall project costs
  • Prepare and assemble bids and proposals for different contract types (basic BOQ’s, lump sum, GMP, cost plus, etc.)
  • Prepare scope requisitions for assigned trades, obtain and evaluate proposals relative to the scopes of work, and eliminate/manage the risk of scope gaps and overlaps
  • Receive, verify, and approve invoices based on original project scopes
  • Review all CAD/Revit models to ensure correct implementation of code compliance processes
  • Perform constructability review on all project diagrams, elevations, renderings, and sample boards to ensure alignment with the project budget
  • Facilitate and manage all technical meetings with clients’ facilities teams
  • Manage the project closeout (including as-builts/CAD files and final costs) and conduct project postmortem on all closed projects
  • Produce annual business budgets and cash flow projections 
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with all consultants, vendors, and contractors 
  • Provide on-site project management as required 

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 5 years’ of food service facility construction experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience 
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules 
  • Strong technical background relating to all building services systems, especially those relating to food service integration
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven abilities to guide a design team toward an affordable and executable design and to make estimate and design adjustments to deliver a well-balanced project
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to problem solve, think strategically, and optimize resources 
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD Viewer, Timberline, Merlin, or MSP Scheduling 
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 70%)
