The Opportunity 

At E15 Group, we help foodservice operators optimize their business, and the consumer voice plays an important role in this. The consumer insights team helps multiple groups of stakeholders create dining experiences that satisfy the people we serve, based on data. We are a growing, fast-moving team inside of a growing, fast-moving business. 

The Role 

The Consumer Insights Analyst is a valued consumer consultant who partners with our operators, chefs, marketing teams, and business analytics teams to help them identify the best opportunities to elevate the foodservice experience for their customers. The individual will work closely with these teams to understand their insight needs, then develop and execute best-in-class research to address them. You will execute a variety of methodologies, ranging from market research to onsite surveys and focus groups, to better understand customer needs. You will be responsible for defining, leading, analyzing, interpreting, and socializing insights to various stakeholders. You will report directly to the Manager of Market Research and work closely with the Director of Analytics for Compass Group, E15’s parent company. 

Primary responsibilities include

  • Turning consumer insights into actionable findings that move the business forward
  • Conducting market research (using both syndicated data and primary research methods) to determine consumer preferences and identify improvement and growth opportunities 
  • Deploying multiple primary research methodologies to discover consumer needs and preferences 
  • Mining data from a variety of third-party research tools 
  • Crafting compelling stories from complex data to address key client business issues 
  • Working closely with the Business Insights team to synthesize consumer insights with internal data such as point of sale, labor, and inventory data 
  • Developing written reports and PowerPoint presentations to convey findings and recommendations to clients, operators, business analysts, and executive audiences 
  • Socializing research findings across different departments - creative, marketing, operations, culinary - and pivoting to the needs of each 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in business analytics, computer science, statistics, economics, or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research and/or statistical/analytical techniques
  • Experience in consumer insights, ideally in the food, healthcare, or hospitality industries, is preferred
  • Experience with using and interpreting syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI)
  • A talent for seeing the patterns behind data, and understanding what these patterns might mean for stakeholders 
  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures 
  • Proven intellectual and problem solving skills that allow you to really get to the heart of the critical business issues 
  • The ability to communicate difficult concepts in a clear, straightforward way at all levels of an organization (and especially to non-technical audiences) 
  • Natural curiosity, a can-do attitude, and comfort with ambiguity 
  • Loves rolling their sleeves up and diving into projects 
  • Experience deploying multiple methods for understanding consumer behavior, preferences, and experiences Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) is preferred
